Hand physiotherapy
Hand physiotherapy

Hand physiotherapy focuses on treating functional disorders of muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, joints, nerves, and skin in the hand. Hand physiotherapists are specialized physiotherapists and occupational therapists who have dedicated themselves to the treatment of the hand, wrist, and arm. Our hand physiotherapist manages the rehabilitation process after surgery but can also provide conservative treatment (without surgical intervention). There are various treatment options, always tailored precisely to your symptoms and limitations. The goal is to optimize your function as much as possible. In the treatment of your symptoms, physiotherapists and occupational therapists often work together to aid in your recovery.

What can hand physiotherapy do for you?

The hand is perhaps the most beautiful tool we possess. Every day, we need our hands to work, care for ourselves and others, engage in sports, and express love. We use our hands to communicate, and through touch, our fingertips provide important information about the world around us. Our hands are a unique part of ourselves. A hand physiotherapist is a recognized physiotherapist or occupational therapist. Through extensive training and clinical experience, they have specialized in the treatment of the hand, wrist, and arm.

Good Collaboration

Hand physiotherapists have excellent knowledge of hand anatomy and different injuries and conditions. They work closely with general practitioners, hand surgeons, and other medical specialists, providing you with the best chance of a successful (postoperative) recovery. Your hand physiotherapist advises, treats, and guides you.

Treatments

It is important to note that hand physiotherapy is often a long-term and intensive process where your cooperation and effort are crucial. Depending on the severity of the condition, the duration of therapy may vary. For instance, you may see improvement after three treatments and appropriate advice for a painful muscle. However, after surgery or with extensive injury, post-treatment may last up to a year. Especially in the beginning, the frequency of treatment is high because the most progress can be made during that period.

Exercise therapy

The goal is to achieve the maximum benefit. Our hand physiotherapists strive for an efficient and optimal approach, but your own motivation to continue exercises at home is equally important! Whether the therapy lasts long or short: it is crucial that you diligently follow the prescribed exercises and advice at home.
