Manual therapy
Manual therapy

Manual therapy is provided by a specialized physiotherapist who has additional expertise related to disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This is a collective term for everything in your body related to movement. Manual therapy is a 3-year Master’s (Msc) program as a supplement to the physiotherapy education.

The musculoskeletal system  consists of joints, muscles and tendons, the nervous system and blood vessels. By using manipulations  a technique where a small crack may sometimes be herald) , the manual therapist can often quickly resolve complaints that do not respond well to other therapies or medications.

Improved functioning

Manual therapy is a treatment method  that primarily targets the joints of the body. The goal of manual therapy is to improve the functioning of the joints

and surrounding muscles on one hand, and to improve posture and movements on the other. For this purpose, manual therapists use a number of additional specific techniques and maneuvers.

Manual therapy technique

By moving the joint in a particular way, the mobility of the joints can often be quickly increased. Such a special mobilisation technique is then called a manipulation. This may sometimes be accompanied by a popping sound. In principle, all joints can be treated, but manual therapy is most commonly known for manipulations of the back, neck and pelvis. The effects of manual therapy are often immediately noticeable; you feel an improvement in mobility and a decrease in pain. The treatment program of the manual therapist also includes providing good instructions, advice, guidance, and insight into healthy movement.
